Quick guide to posting images on the forum

Here's a quick guide to how to post your shots on AWA. Take note that this forum does not allow attachments for now, so you have to upload your shots to an independent picture hosting web server (e.g http://www.photobucket.com)

1. After downloading the pictures from your camera or CF card reader, resize your photos on your PC to about 640 x 480 pixels in dimension, using Photoshop or any other image editing program...if you do not have PS, there are a few out there which are free including ACDSee and Paint Shop Pro, do a google search. A general rule of thumb for picture size: not more than 640x480 pixels (width/height) and a size limit of max 140KB (per pic) in .jpg format is recommended for web postings. (with or without borders is fine)

2. Go to http://www.photobucket.com and click "Register Now" for a free user account. An email account is necessary for registration.

3. Login using your user name and password. Then upload images from your computer using the "Browse" button and click "Upload".

4. You should now see a thumbnail of your photo if upload is succesful. Highlight and copy the text in the box after IMG Code. (it should be automatically copied when you click your mouse on the text in the box)

5. Go to the "Bird Photography" sub forum and click "Post new topic"

6. Put a title: e.g Blue tailed Bee eater. In the main text box cut and paste what you copied in the IMG code box, e.g [IMG] http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/xxx/xyz.jpg [/IMG]

You should see something like this when you hit the preview post button:
